Narrative methods in teaching instruments of English language in pre-primary education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce má výzkumný charakter, a zabývá se narativními metodami ve vyučovacích prostředcích angličtiny pro preprimární vzdělávání. Teoretická část představuje úvod do problematiky rané výuky angličtiny u dětí předškolního věku, rozvoji komunikativních dovedností a roli využití narativních metod při výuce angličtiny. V praktické části je prostřednictvím kvantitativní obsahové analýzy analyzováno 17 knih a učebnic angličtiny pro děti předškolního věku. Zjištění z kvantitativního výzkumného šetření byla doplněna o výsledky z doplňkové výzkumné metody kvalitativního polostrukturovaného interview se třemi učitelkami mateřských škol, používající při výuce učebnice obsahující naraci.

Abstract:

This master's thesis is focused on narrative methods in teaching recources of English language in pre-primary education. The main aim of this thesis is clarify what types of narration are most often used in English language teaching resources. The theoretical part introduces the issue of early English teaching to preschool children, the development of communicative skills and the role of using narrative methods in teaching English. In the practical part, 17 books and textbooks of English for pre-school children are analyzed through quantitative oriented content analysis. The findings from the quantitative research were supplemented by results from a supplementary reserach method of a qualitative semi-structured interview with three kindergarten teachers using textbooks containing narratives.
