Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the main reasons that allowed the British to defeat the French in the clash over colonizing India. It analyzes the process that caused the disintegration of the Mughal Empire, that allowed the colonization of India to take place. The work proves that the Europeans coming to India were mostly traders and that it was the political situation in India what allowed them to assert their own interests by force. Furthermore, the thesis explains that, apart from the British naval superiority, the War was won by the British thanks to their strategic and diplomatic skills.

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o hlavních důvodech, které umožnily Britům porazit Francouze ve střetu o kolonizace Indie. Práce analyzuje proces vedoucí k rozpadu Mughalské říše, který kolonizaci umožnil. Práce prokazuje, že Evropané přijíždějící do Indie byli především obchodníci, a že prosazovat své zájmy silou jim umožnila až nastálá situace v Indii. Práce pak dále vysvětluje, že Britové neporazili Francouze pouze díky své námořní převaze, ale také díky svým strategickým a diplomatickým dovednostem.
