Weaving Infinity

Abstract:

Práce rozvolňuje tkaninu současné digitální módy. Přibližuje genezi hybridního pojmu a infrastrukturu, která kolem tvorby tvorby digitálně tvořených prototypů vzniká. Analyzuje, jak digitální přístup mění estetiku, temporalitu, prostor i materialitu produktu. Přibližuje, jaké má digitální oblečení a doplňky uplatnění, jak může vypadat a jak se polygony dají „nosit“a kým. Ideologická kritika dále rozplétá pletivo přístupů v udržitelném designu, které jsou propojeny s komputací. Kriticky se staví k argumentačnímu jazyku udržitelnosti, který doprovází současné postoje převažující v digitální módní tvorbě. Stejně tak tato diplomová práce ale nepopírá jisté výhody, které digitalizace pracovních postupů může nabídnout. Bere v potaz hybridní realitu digitálního designu, kterou staví do kontrastu s tradičními, řemeslnými postupy v módní praxi. Zároveň se vyrovnává s názorovými rovinami, které se utváří v rámci studia nových médií. Diskurzivní analýzou těchto rovin krystalizuje amalgam v podobě manifestu, který se zamýšlí, jak v této oblasti nahlédnout za hranice demokratizujícího efektu nového média digitálního prototypu a digitalizace obecně.

Abstract:

The work loosens the fabric of contemporary digital fashion. It looks at the genesis of the hybrid concept and the infrastructure that is emerging around digital prototyping. It analyses how the digital approach changes the aesthetics, temporality, space and materiality of the product. It looks at the applications of digital clothing and accessories, what they can look like, how polygons can be 'worn' and by whom. Ideological critique further unravels the mesh of approaches in sustainable design that are linked to computation. It critically engages with the argumentative language of sustainability that accompanies current attitudes prevalent in digital fashion design. Equally, however, this thesis does not deny certain benefits that digitised working practices can offer. It takes into account the hybrid reality of digital design, which it contrasts with traditional, artisanal practices in fashion practice. At the same time, it comes to terms with the planes of opinion that are formed within the study of new media. Through a discursive analysis of these planes, an amalgam crystallizes in the form of a manifesto that considers how to look beyond the democratizing effect of the new medium of the digital prototype and digitization in general in this field.
