Intercultural Analysis: Expressing Politeness in Political Discourse
Abstract:
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to perform a critical discourse analysis of Czech and American political discourse, in terms of Norman Fairclough and terminology and framework set by Stephen Levinson and Penelope Brown. These analyzed samples are then to be compared, in order to understand the difference between expressing politeness in Czech and English political discourse.
Abstract:
Cílem této bakalářské práce je provést kritickou diskurzivní analýzu českého a amerického politického diskurzu, a to po vzoru Normana Fairclougha, za využití terminologie a frameworku vytvořeného Stephenem Levinsonem a Penelope Brownovou. Tyto analyzované vzorky budou posléze porovnány, ve snaze pochopit, jakým způsobem se liší uplatňování zdvořilostních mechanismů v českém a americkém politickém diskurzu …more
