Vysokovsky kohout - A Competitive Show of Amateur Films with 40 Years Old Tradition

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce shrnuje čtyřicet jedna úspěšných ročníků soutěže neprofesionálních filmů, která se koná v obci Vysokov u Náchoda. Původně malá přehlídka pro místní filmaře se rozrostla v ojedinělý filmový festival, který směřuje ke svému jubilejnímu padesátému ročníku. Na pozadí jednotlivých ročníků je mapována nejen obsahová a technická proměna amatérských filmů (přechod od němých černobílých snímků na úzkém formátu 8 mm až po současné digitální video s jeho téměř neomezenými možnostmi), ale odráží se v něm i politické a společenské změny od šedesátých let minulého století až po současnost. Amatérské filmy nejsou mezi veřejností příliš známé. Brání tomu zejména omezené možnosti veřejné prezentace. Přesto každý rok vzniká mnoho nových snímků. Pro autory se pořádají pravidelné soutěže, dokonce i na mezinárodní úrovni. A navíc - většina tzv. amatérských filmů může směle konkurovat i filmům profesionálním.

Abstract:

The Bachelor dissertation summarizes forty-one years of successful competition of amateur films which takes place in the village of Vysokov which is near Nachod. What began as a small parade for the local filmmakers proliferated into a unique film festival which is about to celebrate its fifteenth anniversary. Over the years, there have been many changes in amateur films both in content as well as with technical advances, especially with the transition from muted black and white photography to today's contemporary digital video with its almost unlimited capabilities. The changes in content reflects the political and social changes that have acured from the 1960's through today. Amateur films are not well known by the general public. However, despite this, every year more and more shots are presented. Periodic competitions are arranged for the authors and these competitions are also offered at the international level as well. Because of this exposure, the most amateurish films can daringly compete with the more professional films.
