The causes and course of cyberbullying among children and youth

Abstract:

Kyberšikana byla identifikována jako problém, který je nutno řešit vzhledem k rostoucímu využívání ICT technologií u dětí a mládeže v posledním desetiletí. Tato práce shrnuje některé současné poznatky a pojednává o obecných koncepcích v této oblasti. Výzkum zde zahrnuje definici problémů: druhy šikany, její opakování, motivy a dopady kybernetického pronásledování, strategie zvládání a prevence / intervenční možnosti. Tyto otázky budou ilustrovány s odkazem na nedávnou a současnou literaturu a také v hloubkových rozhovorech se studenty ve věku od 12 do 18 let, kteří prožili jednu nebo více epizod kyberšikany. V závěru diskusí jsme se dostali k důkazům pro různé zvládání intervenčních a preventivních strategií.

Abstract:

Cyberbullying was identified as a problem that needs to be solved because of the increase in using ICT technologies by children and youth in the last decade. This thesis summarizes some of the present observations and is about the general concepts in that field. The research is focused on defining the problems: types of bullying, its recurrence, motives, impacts of cyberbullying, tactics of coping with the bullying and the possibilities of prevention/intervention. These issues will be illustrated with the reference on the recent literature and in-depth interviews with students of ages 12 to 18 who experienced one or more cases of cyberbullying. In conclusion of the discussions, we got to the pieces of evidence for various using of intervention and prevention tactics.
