Bank monitoring of a client s business

Abstract:

The aim of the Bachelor thesis is to explain the importance of monitoring bank’s client as one of the tools of decreasing risk. Monitoring is incessant process carried out together with appraisal of client to adopt practices for the risk prevention of the loan defaults. There are defined different sources of information of the monitoring in this thesis and the accent is put on the description of the financial statements that are base for assessment of the change of the client‘s financial situation. Changes may signal higher risk of loan default and the objection of the monitoring is signalizing this risk in time. In this thesis are described indicators – qualitative, quantitative and multicriterional that allow the bank to predict degradation and failing of economic situation of the client and they are part of assessment systems of the banks. Basic remedies adopted by banks if credit risk increase is outlined in the thesis. Approach to monitoring of clients and methods of the information monitoring by specific banks are stated in the thesis. In the final part of the thesis the monitoring is applied on a selected client from the engineering area. Outputs of monitoring say that thanks to information gained during monitoring and its evaluation banks are able to identify risk soon enough to take an action to decrease risk.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca je zameraná na vysvetlenie dôležitosti monitorovania klienta banky ako jedného z nástrojov na znižovanie rizika banky. Monitorovanie je neustály proces sledovania a hodnotenia vývoja klienta, tak aby bolo možné operatívne prijať opatrenia na zamedzenie rizika, ktoré môže spôsobiť ohrozenie splácania úveru. V práci definujeme rôzne zdroje informácií monitoringu, hlbšie sa zameriavame na popis finančných výkazov, ktoré sú základom pre hodnotenie zmeny vo finančnej situácii klienta. Zmeny môžu signalizovať zvýšené riziko nezaplatenia úveru a úlohou monitoringu je toto riziko včas postrehnúť . V práci preto popisujeme ukazovatele - kvalitatívne, kvantitatívne a multikriteriálne, ktoré najviac umožnia banke predikovať zhoršovanie hospodárskej situácie klienta a sú súčasťou hodnotiacich systémov bánk. V práci načrtávame základné opatrenia, ktoré prijímajú banky pri zistení zvýšenia úverového rizika klienta. Porovnávame spôsob monitorovanie informácií zo strany konkrétnych bánk a prístup k monitorovaniu klienta. V záverečnej časti je monitoring aplikovaný na konkrétnom klientovi z oblasti strojárenskej výroby. Z výstupov monitorovania vyplýva, že z informácií získaných monitorovaním a ich vyhodnotením banky dokážu včas rozpoznať riziko a prijať účinné opatrenia na jeho zníženie.
