The propagation and planting of trees for energy use - Populus nigra

Abstract:

Předložená práce podává charakteristiku topolů a zvláště topolu černého Populus nigra L. Je zaměřena na energetické využití tohoto a dalších druhů topolů a ostatních energetických dřevin a plodin. V práci se zabýváme problematikou zakládání topolových plantáží ? vegetativním rozmnožováním pomocí osních řízků a velikostí přírůstků zvláště po prvním vegetačním období. Zkoumáme předpokládaný přírůstek v závislosti na velikosti (délce a šířce) vysazeného osního řízku. Hypotézu jsme testovali vysazením 204ks topolových řízků rozdílných délek a šířek na zkušebním záhonu a výsledky jsme statisticky zpracovali.

Abstract:

The submitted work provides characterization of poplars especially of Populus nigra. It focuses on energy use of this and other species of poplars and other trees and energy crops. This work is concerned with problems of planting of poplar plantations - vegetative propagation by stem cuttings and rate of growth especially after the first growing season. We supposed that there exists some dependence of the rate of growth on the different size of stem cuttings. We tested the hypothesis by planting of 204 pieces of poplar cuttings of different length and width on the testing bed in the botanical garden and the results of our experiment were statistically processed. Today there exists a big problem of burning of fossil fuels, which is cause of air pollution and contamination of the environment, so that is why we aimed our attention to energy use of this and other species of fast-growing trees and crops. Today arises a questi-on of alternative - renewable sources of energy and fast-growing trees can be considered the energy source of the future.
