Science Centres - A new type of Natural Science Popularization

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce je navrhnout výukové programy a science show pro vybraná česká science centra. Celosvětově se jedná o oblíbená centra neformálního vzdělávání, která jsou přínosem pro komunikaci vědy. Návštěvníkům zprostředkovávají svět vědy a techniky formou hry a prostřednictvím vlastní zkušenosti. Programová nabídka science center je různorodá, ale výukové programy a ?vědecké? show jsou základem popularizace věd v těchto institucích. V rámci diplomové práce byly navrženy dva výukové programy a jedna show. Vzdělávací program zaměřený na základy magnetismu propojující znalosti z fyziky i chemie Hrajeme si s magnetickým polem byl vytvořen pro VIDA! Science centrum v Brně, ve kterém se uvádí od prosince 2014. Výukový modul Jde to i bez chemie? se uvádí od dubna 2015 ve Světě techniky v Ostravě. Žáci se seznamují se základními pojmy, jako jsou bílkoviny, sacharidy, lipidy, ale mají také možnost diskutovat o složení potravin a dozvědět se něco o funkci emulgátorů nebo modifikovaných škrobů v potravinách. Science show s názvem Ohnivá show je ve verzi, v jaké je popsána v diplomové práci uváděna v science centru v Brně, ale od května 2015 bude její pozměněná verze k vidění i v Ostravě.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to design educational programs and science show for selected science centers in the Czech Republic. Science centers are a great contribution to publicizing the science and they are very popular world-wide. You can understand the science and technology through games and through your own experience. Each science center might have its own specific program. Nevertheless, all of them stand upon the educational programs and science shows, which are one of the most necesarry tools for popularization of science in these institutions. In this thesis there were designed two educational programs and one show. The first educational program is called We are playing with the magnetic field and it is focused on the basics of the magnetism and it connects knowledge of the physics and the chemistry. This program was created for the VIDA! Science center in Brno and it has been presented since December 2004. The second program is the educational module called Does it work without chemistry? and it has been presented since March 2014 in the Science and Technology Center Ostrava. During this program students learn basic terms such as protein, carbohydrate, lipid and also they have an oportunity to discuss about the food composition and to find out something about the function of emulsifiers or modified starchs in a food. Finally, the science show called Fire show, which is described in this thesis, is presented in Science Center in Brno. Modified version of this show is being presented in Ostrava starting May 2015.
