Abstract:

Práce představuje klíčová dilemata současné sociologické diskuze o tématu dospívání a formování identity mladých lidí v institucionálním historickém kontextu pozdní modernity. Předmětem práce je v konceptuálním rámci rizikové společnosti a individualizace instituce oddalované tranzice z mládí do dospělosti. Práce odpovídá na otázku, jakým způsobem prodlužování doby semizávislosti v procesu tranzice do dospělosti ovlivňuje proces hledání a utváření identity mladých lidí. Osou výkladu je ambivalence mezi perspektivou rozšiřování možností individuálního sebevyjádření na jedné straně a nebezpečí či realitou sociální a ekonomické marginalizace na straně druhé. Práce poukazuje na provázanost institucionálního historicko-sociálního kontextu pozdně moderní společnosti (problematika rapidní sociální změny) s prodlužovanou tranzicí z mládí do dospělosti. Zmíněná diskuze předkládá přehled sociologicky významných faktorů, které zmíněný proces – a jeho výsledky – ovlivňují nebo mohou ovlivňovat. Z předložené analýzy vyplývá, že oddalovaná tranzice do dospělosti představuje v současné době institucionalizovanou svébytnou etapu životního cyklu, jež s sebou v dané historické konstelaci přináší hrozbu možné proměny definice dospělosti ve smyslu objevení se nové etapy životního cyklu stojící mezi mládím a dospělostí, tak jak jsme ji znali.

Abstract:

The paper introduces crucial dilemmas of the present sociological discussion about transition to adulthood and construction of young peoples identity in the institutional background of late modernity. The subject of the thesis is an institution of prolonged transition from youth to adulthood within the conceptual framework of risk society and individualization. The paper intents answering the question of how does the prolongation of a semi-dependence phase in the process of transition to adulthood influence the process of searching for and construction of young peoples identity. The ambivalence between a perspective of extension of individual expression on one side and a danger or perceived reality of social or economic marginalization on the other represents the core of the interpretation here. The paper demonstrates the interconnectedness of the institutional historical and social background of the late modern society (rapid social change issue) with the prolonged transition from youth to adulthood. The above mentioned discussion serves as an outline of sociologically important factors influencing the above mentioned process – its results in particular. The analysis shows that the prolonged transition to adulthood has become an institutionalized and normalized phase of the life cycle bringing in the threat of potential redefinition of adulthood with regard to the emergence of a new phase of the life cycle standing between the phase of youth and adulthood as we used to know it.
