The Slav Epic as a symbol of Czech national awareness
Abstract:
Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na české národní smýšlení na přelomu 19. a 20. století, v letech krátce před zrodem Československa. V této době vzniklo monumentální a ojedinělé malířské dílo, Slovanská epopej Alfonse Muchy. Hlavním cílem textu je propojit sdělení obrazů s národními myšlenkami. Nechybí ani popis současné situace kolem cyklu a jeho umístění.
Abstract:
The bachelor thesis focuses on Czech national awareness at the turn of 20th century, in the years shortly before the creation of Czechoslovakia. At this time Alfons Mucha was painting his monumental and rare work of art, Slav Epic. The aim of the paper is to interlink paintings and national thoughts. The situation and place where is the exhibition set is also mentioned.
