The Archipelago of the Azores in the 19th Century and the Movement for the Independence

Abstract:

The main topic of the work - The archipelago of the Azores in the 19th century and the movement for the independence - is to work various aspects which influenced development of the Azores in the 19th century. Among these aspects belong a society, the economy and the emigration. All these aspects contributed the azorean elite to form the movement for the independence and to declarate their wish of being independence.

Abstract:

O trabalho - O arquipélago dos Açores no séc. XIX e o movimento autonomista - trata sobre os mais importantes aspectos que influenciaram o desenvolvimento dos Açores ao longo do séc. XIX. Entre estes pertencem a sociedade, a economia e a emigração. Todos estes aspectos levaram a elite açoriana à formação de movimento autonomista e a manifestar o seu desejo de autonomia.
