The Comparison of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce bude věnována problematice postavení Komunistické strany Čech a Moravy a Komunistické strany Ruské federace na politické aréně obou států, s časovým rámcem zkoumání od roku 1990 až po současnost. Záměrem práce bude komparace současného postavení daných komunistických stran, srovnání jejich role a významu v období po pádu komunistického režimu v ČSSR a SSSR. V průběhu práce bude ukázána stálá popularita komunistických nálad ve společnosti a nezanedbatelná role obou komunistických subjektů jak v České republice, tak v Ruské federaci. Bude rozebrán stranický program, členská základna, vztah a preference voličů a současné postavení daných komunistických subjektů v politickém spektru. Velký důraz bude kladen na problematiku vyrovnávání se s minulostí. V začátečních kapitolách se čtenář seznámí s vývojem komunistických a postkomunistických stran ve státech střední a východní Evropy; další část práce bude věnována ideově-programovému profilu Komunistické strany Čech a Moravy v České republice; následovat bude analogický postup ve vztahu ke Komunistické straně Ruské federace. Konečně, poslední část práce se zaměří na komparaci obou politických stran a jejich vzájemný vztah.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is concerned with the problematic status of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation in the political arena of both states, with a chronological focus of 1990 to the present day. The aim of the thesis will be to compare the position of the respective communist parties, and to compare their role and importance in the period following the fall of the communist regimes in Czechoslovakia and the USSR. The text will demonstrate the enduring popularity of communist sentiments in society, and the not-inconsiderable role of both communist organizations, both in the Czech Republic and in the Russian Federation. It will analyze the party program, membership base, relationship to, and preferences of, voters - and the current status of both communist organizations on the political spectrum. Large emphasis will be placed on the issue of tackling the past. In the opening chapters, the reader will be familiarized with the development of the communist and post-communist parties in the states of Central and Eastern Europe; subsequent chapters will be dedicated to the ideological-programmatical profile of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia in the Czech Republic, which will be followed by a parallel approach in relation to the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Finally, the last chapter will focus on a comparison of the two political parties, and on their interrelationship.
