Long-term rehabilitation of a patient with surgically treated bimalleolar ankle fracture: case report

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the clinical case of a 56-year-old man who gets a bimalleolar ankle fracture by accidentally falling on the tram. The man, given the extent of the fracture is subjected to surgery that in addition to the bone realignment involves the insertion of plates and screws inside the ankle joint. After an abundant month of immobilization, part of which with the leg in traction and the presence of half-chalked boots the orthopedic surgeon, followed by a control plate, gives his approval for the beginning of rehabilitation.

Abstract:

Questa tesi tratta il caso clinico di un uomo di 56 anni che si procura una frattura bimalleolare di caviglia cadendo accidentalmente sul tram. L'uomo, vista l'entit? della frattura viene sottoposto ad un intervento chirurgico che oltre al riallineamento osseo comporta l'inserimento di placche e viti all'interno dell'articolazione della caviglia. Dopo un mese abbondante di immobilizzazione, parte del quale con gamba in trazione e presenza di stivaletto emi-gessato il chirurgo ortopedico, seguito lastra di controllo, d? il suo benestare per l'inizio della riabilitazione.
