Jiri Grusa - A writer and diplomat from Pardubice

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis examines the life and work of a writer and diplomat Jiří Gruša. Gruša has left behind works written both in German and Czech. This thesis deals with his novels, poems, and essays in both languages. During his life, he has written poems and essays that could have been published only in samizdat. After the loss of the Czech citizenship, he has lived in Bonn and started to write in German. As an ambassador in Germany and Austria, he has published a number of political essays.

Diese Abschlussarbeit befasst sich mit dem Leben und Werk des Schriftstellers und Diplomaten Jiří Gruša. Gruša hat Werke in tschechischer und deutscher Sprache verfasst. Diese Arbeit umfasst seine Prosawerke, Gedichte und Essays in beiden Sprachen. Ein Teil dieser Arbeit ist auch sein Leben. Während des Lebens in Tschechien schrieb er Gedichte und Essays, die nur im Samisdat veröffentlicht werden konnten. Nach der Aberkennung seiner tschechischen Staatsangehörigkeit lebte er in Bonn und fing an auf Deutsch zu schreiben. Als tschechische Botschafter in Deutschland und Österreich hat er eine Reihe von politischen Essays veröffentlicht.
