Primary and Secondary Prevention of Breast Cancer

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu karcinom prsu. Karcinom prsu je nejčastější nádorové onemocnění žen v České republice. Incidence tohoto onemocnění neustále stoupá. Mortalita na toto nádorové onemocnění v posledních letech díky zvyšující se kvalitě léčby a časnějšímu záchytu onemocnění klesá. Znalost primární a sekundární prevence a dostatečná informovanost žen je pro prognózu onemocnění velmi důležitá. V teoretické části je popsána anatomie prsu, definován karcinom prsu a jeho typy. Dále jsou zmíněny rizikové faktory vzniku karcinomu prsu a možnosti jeho prevence. Praktická část zahrnuje výsledky dotazníkového šetření v laické populaci žen od 45 let věku. Míra informovanosti o rizikových faktorech vzniku karcinomu prsu je ve zkoumaném souboru nedostatečná. Respondentky šetření neznají dostatečně rizikové faktory vzniku onemocnění. Oslovené ženy považují preventivní prohlídky prsů za důležité, ale mamografické vyšetření absolvuje pravidelně ve dvouletém intervalu jen 73% dotázaných žen. Samovyšetření prsů pravidelně provádí pouhých 30% dotázaných žen. Získané výsledky jsou prezentovány v grafech a následně komentovány slovně.

Abstract:

Aim of this bachelor's work is breast cancer and its prevention. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed malignancy in women in Czech Republic and its morbidity is constantly increasing. Mortality associated with breast cancer declined in recent years due to effective prevention strategies, early-stage detections and continuously improving quality of treatment. Knowledge of primary and secondary prevention and sufficient awareness of women is very important for a better prognosis. The work consists of two parts. The theoretical part describes structures of mammary glands and defines different types of tumors. There are also mentioned risk factors for breast cancer and ways of breast cancer prevention. The practical part includes the evaluation of the findings concerning a breast cancer prevention among laity women aged 45 years and more. The level of awareness in the investigated group of women about the risk factors of breast cancer is insufficient. Survey respondents have insufficient knowledge about risk factors. Addressed women think that preventative checks are important - 73% of women participating in the two-year interval mammography screening, but only 30% of women know the technique of self-examination and regularly use it. Results of the research are presented in graphs and explanations of the data are also provided.
