The clash of piracy culture with the music industry and its effects on the freedom of the internet

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá okolnostmi střetu kultury online pirátství se světovým hudebním průmyslem na poli internetu. Zároveň diskutuje proměny, kterými autorství jako institut v době nových technologií prochází, a snaží se zhodnotit relevantnost argumentů používaných v boji proti pirátství tradičními strukturami hudebního průmyslu, které tvrdí, že svobodný internet umožňující snadné sdílení dat ubližuje autorům, kreativitě a ve výsledku tak celé společnosti.

Abstract:

This paper concerns the circumstances of the clash of piracy culture with the music industry on the field of internet. At the same time it aims to discuss the authorship as an institute and to evaluate the relevancy of arguments used in the fight against piracy by the traditional structures of music industry, which are claiming that the easiness of sharing data through the internet is hurting the authors, creativity and as the result is bad for the whole society.
