Risk factors affecting sex trafficking within the US regions

Abstract:

This thesis examines social, economic, and demographic risk factors within the United States and focuses on their relation to the regional occurrence and dominance of sex trafficking cases that affect the U.S. women residents. Race, substance abuse, homelessness, or unemployment are interpreted as vulnerabilities, representing a potential threat to U.S. residents. Through the combination of quantitative data analysis and qualitative study of sex trafficking cases in the U.S. regions and rates of individual risk factors, the thesis provides an understanding of the complex dynamics of sex trafficking, including its potential roots and causes. Additionally, the thesis highlights regional diversity regarding the prevalence of various risk factors within U.S. regions, with the West region having the highest prevalence of sex trafficking cases, alongside elevated rates of the majority of risk factors among U.S. citizens. Overall, the thesis contributes to the comprehension of the impact of factors on the distribution of sex trafficking and underscores the need to improve conditions in each region to preserve of human rights and well-being of US population.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zkoumá sociální, ekonomické a demografické rizikové faktory ve Spojených státech a zaměřuje se na jejich vztah k výskytu a převaze případů sex traffickingu žen v regionech. Etnická příslušnost, zneužívání návykových látek, bezdomovectví nebo nezaměstnanost jsou faktory, které představují potenciální hrozbu pro obyvatele USA. Prostřednictvím kvantitativní analýzy dat a kvalitativní studie sex traffickingu v regionech USA a rozsahu výskytu jednotlivých rizikových faktorů, práce poskytuje komplexní porozumění dynamiky sex traffickingu, včetně jeho možných příčin. Kromě toho, práce poukazuje na regionální rozmanitost, týkající se výskytu různých rizikových faktorů v regionech Spojených států, přičemž západní region má nejvyšší výskyt sex traffickingu a zároveň zvýšenou míru většiny rizikových faktorů mezi občany USA. Práce přispívá k pochopení vlivu faktorů na distribuci sex traffickingu a zdůrazňuje potřebu zlepšení podmínek v jednotlivých regionech, aby byla lidská práva a blahobyt obyvatel USA zachovány.
