Edition of Selected Medical Manuscript

Abstract:

This Master's Diploma thesis presents an edition of Czech hand-written recipes of manuscript A 43 from the 17th century, and thus makes accessible the source of monastic, or folk medicine. The thesis contains detailed name and subject indexes and also a dictionary. Apart from this edition, the thesis is focused on comparation of the four variations of the manuscript A 43, which coincide to some extent. It is showed via comparation that it is difficult to trace back the original recipes, from which the manuscript under consideration was copied, because the copied recipes contain scribes’ mistakes, mainly confusion in ingredients, which could considerably change the original wording and the efficiency of the original recipes. The source can be further used by historians, linguists or ethnologists.

Abstract:

Cieľom predkladanej diplomovej práce bolo utvoriť edíciu česky písaných receptov rukopisu A 43 z polovice 17. storočia a sprístupniť tak prameň kláštorného, respektíve ľudového liečiteľstva. Súčasťou edície je podrobný menný a vecný register a diferenčný slovník. Okrem edície sa práca zamerala na porovnanie rukopisu A 43 so štyrmi variantnými predlohami, s ktorými má zhodné pasáže. Komparáciou poukazujeme na to, aké zložité je dohľadať pôvodnú predlohu, z ktorej nami skúmané rukopisy čerpali, a že opisovanie diel sa v minulosti neobišlo bez pisárskych chýb, hlavne zámeny ingrediencií, ktoré mohli značne pozmeniť pôvodné znenie a účinnosť originálnych receptov. Prameň môže ďalej slúžiť pre potreby historikov, lingvistov či etnológov.
