Noble metals as modifiers for the determination of mercury by solid sampling electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo stanovení rtuti v pevných vzorcích pomocí atomové absorpční spektrometrie s elektrotermickou atomizací a dávkováním pevných vzorků. Nejprve byly optimalizovány podmínky pro atomizátor a hledáno stabilizující činidlo pro vodné roztoky rtuti používané pro kalibraci. Za tímto účelem byly zkoumány roztoky KMnO4 a K2Cr2O7 o koncentracích 0,3; 3; 30; 60 a 100 g.l-1. Jako optimální byl vybrán roztok KMnO4 o koncentraci 100 g.l-1. K modifikaci povrchu grafitové lodičky byly použity vzácné kovy, palladium a směs iridia se zlatem. Ty byly na grafitovou lodičku naneseny termicky a elektrochemickým pokrýváním v kapce. Jako optimální se ukázalo palladium, které bylo naneseno elektrochemickým pokrýváním v kapce. Kalibrační závislosti pro vodné roztoky byly použity pro vyhodnocení obsahů rtuti v pevných vzorcích půd a rostliny v navážkách do 0,3 - 0,5 mg.

Abstract:

The direct determination of mercury in the solid samples by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry with solid sampling system was studied. The temperature programme for the determination of mercury was optimised. The compounds of KMnO4 and K2Cr2O7 were tested as stabilizing agents of mercury in water solutions. The best results were obtained for stabilization by 100 g l-1 KMnO4. For the determination of mercury in graphite furnace the application of chemical modifiers is advantageous. In this work the graphite surface of the sampling boat was modified with thermally reduced or electrodeposited palladium and the mixture of gold and iridium. The best results were obtained for graphite boat modified by electrodeposition in drop with palladium. The calibration curves in water solutions were used for the evaluation of the contents of mercury in solid samples of soils or plants for the sample mass of 0.3 – 0.5 mg.
