Visual identity of small village

Abstract:

The theme of my bachelor thesis is a visual identity of the village, where I come from, Pruské. It is a small village, but with a rich history, and that is the main element of visual identity. The main inspiration for my work is early Gothic book illuminations, tapestries, and stained glass. The existing visual identity stands on a flag and coat of arms that shows a moon with 3 stars in the night sky. The meaning behind it is, that moon is a symbol for Pruské and 3 stars are 3 nearby parts of the village. My logo works with the moon and with the name of the village, but the moon replaces the bowl of the letter P. Colourpallet of identity is very wide, but not all coluors are just for aesthetic purpose, but has a function, in official notices or map. The typeface I used in visual identity is made by Linotype foundry, Clairvaux, which is based on early gothic typefaces. The complementary typeface I used is made by the Czech type foundry TypeTogether, Eskapade. I made a wide variety of applications of identity such as posters, hoodies, a map, a website, bags, and more.

Téma mojej bakalárskej práce je vizuálna identita obce Pruské, odkiaľ pocházím. Je to malá obec, ale s bohatou históriou, a to je hlavný prvok vizuálnej identity. Hlavní inšpirací pro mou tvorbu jsou raně gotické knižní iluminace, tapisérie a vitráže. Stávající vizuálna identita stojí na vlajke a erbu, ktorý ukazuje mesiac sa 3 hviezdami na nočnej obloze. Smyslom je, že mesiac je symbolom Pruského a 3 hviezdy sú 3 blízke časti obce. Moje logo pracuje s mesiacom a názvom obce, ale mesiac nahradí misku písmena P. Farebná paleta identity je veľmi široká, ale všetky farby sú len pre estetické účely, ale majú funkciu, v úradných oznámeniach alebo mapa. Písmo, ktoré som použil vo vizuálnej identite, je vyrobený slévárnou Linotype, Clairvaux, ktoré vychádza z raných gotických písomností. Doplňkové písmo, ktoré som použil, vyrába česká slévárna písma TypeTogether, Eskapade. Vytvoril som široké webové stránky identity, ako sú plakáty, mikiny s kapucňou, mapa, webové stránky, a ďalšie.
