Educational Homogamy and Its Regional Differentiation During the Nineties in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předmětem práce je vzdělanostní homogamie, hypogamie a hypergamie v jednotlivých okresech České republiky v devadesátých letech dvacátého století. Analýza dat, které byly získány od Českého statistického úřadu, je rozdělena na část deskriptivní, popisující jednak hrubé míry sňatečnosti a absolutní vzdělanostní homogamii, hypogamii a hypergamii, a na část explorativní, kde se věnujeme loglineárnímu modelování a relativním mírám vzdělanostní homogamie, hypogamie a hypergamie. Vždy se jedná o data, diferencovaná na základě věku snoubenců v době uzavření sňatku, tvořící skupiny 1) snoubenců bez ohledu na věk, 2) snoubenců ve věku do 30ti let a 3) snoubence ve věku nad 30 let. Byly formulovány hypotézy, z nichž ty, které říkají, že jednotlivé okresy České republiky se liší v absolutních mírách vzdělanostní homogamie, hypogamie i hypergamie a to v obou případech, jak s ohledem na věk, tak bez ohledu na věk snoubenců, a že vzdělanostní homogamie u snoubenců mladších 30ti let je vyšší než u snoubenců starších, se nepodařilo vyvrátit. Hypotézy hovořící o tom, že se jednotlivé okresy České republiky se liší v relativních mírách vzdělanostní homogamie, hypogamie i hypergamie a to v případě, kdy bereme i nebereme ohled na věk snoubenců, se nám naopak podařilo vyvrátit. Česká republika je z hlediska výběru partnera nebo partnerky dle vzdělání homogenním celkem.

Abstract:

This work examines the educational homogamy, hypogamy and hypergamy and its regional differences in the nineties of twenty century in the Czech Republic. The analysis of data obtained from the vital registration is dividend into two parts. The firts part, the descriptive analysis deals with the regional differences in numers of marriages and with the regional differencies in the absolute measures of the educational homogamy, hypogamy and hypergamy. The explorative analysis is done by the means of log-linear modelling of the structure in relative educational homogamy. There are five hypotheses used for this work. According to the descriptive results the first two hypotheses about existing differencies in the absolute educational homogamy, hypogamy and hypergamy in every region of the Czech Republic without and with respekt for age of spouses can be accepted. The last one about higher educational homogamy among younger couples (up to 30 years old) than among the older fiance (more than 30 years old) can be accepted too. According to the log-linear modelka the hypotheses about different relative educational homogamy, hypogamy and hypergamy in each region was rejected. The model show that there are no differencies between regions in chances to contract educational homogamous marriage.
