Chemostratigraphy of Sediments from the Southeasthern Margin of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin

Abstract:

Tato práce je zaměřena na studium vertikálních změn obsahů prvků, jejich poměrů a magnetické susceptibility v křídových horninách jihovýchodní části české křídové pánve. Pro studium byly v této oblasti zvoleny tři lokality: Rudka u Kunštátu, Březinka a Vlkov, odkrývající perucko-korycanské a bělohorské souvrství. Bylo odebráno celkem 250 vzorků, které byly měřené ručním rentgenově fluorescenčním spektrometrem a na kapamůstku. Přechod z pískovců korycanských vrstev (cenoman) do vápnitých prachovců bělohorského souvrství (turon) je na lokalitách Rudka i Březinka charakterizován nárůstem obsahu Ca (pozvolné přibývání karbonátů), poklesem Si/Al (zjemnění sedimentu, vyšší podíl jílové frakce) a nárůstem Ti/Al (pravděpodobně změna asociace těžkých minerálů). Podle Si/Al je možné na profilech u Vlkova a Březinky vydělit přechod ze spodního „opukového členu“ a svrchního „rohovcového členu“. Část Si je vázána v detritické fázi, ale biogenní Si ze spikul mořských hub má také významný podíl, především v nejvyšších částech profilu Březinka, kde jsou vyšší hodnoty Si a Si/Al spojené s výraznou silicifikací. V zastižené části bělohorského souvrství se projevuje progradační trend, dobře pozorovatelný na vývoji popsaných facií. Na lokalitě Březinka je viditelná cyklicita křivek Si/Al, Ti/Al a Zr/Al, ty lze interpretovat jako parasekvence. Magnetická susceptibilita má vyšší hodnoty v korycanských vrstvách, které jsou způsobené vyšším obsahem glaukonit v tomto členu. Nízké hodnoty magnetické susceptibility v bělohorském souvrství odrážejí vysoký obsah diamagnetického křemene a kalcitu. Magnetická susceptibilita je vázaná na jílovou frakci a nosičem signálu jsou tedy paramagnetické minerály. Pro každou lokality byly podle průběhu křivek geochemických proxy a křivky magnetické susceptibility definovány chemostratigrafické intervaly. Tyto intervaly byly korelovány s profily v dříve publikovaných prací, které ukázaly na použitelnost definovaných intervalů pro chemostratigrafické členění sledů v české křídové pánvi.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the study of vertical changes in elements content, their ratios and magnetic susceptibility in the Cretaceous rocks of the southeastern part of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Three localities were selected for this study, revealing the Peruc-Korycany and Bílá hora formations: Rudka u Kunštátu, Březinka and Vlkov, where a total of 250 samples were collected and measured by a hand-held X-ray fluorescence spectrometer and a kappabridge. The transition from the sandstone of the Korycany Member (Cenomanian) to the calcareous siltstones of the Bílá Hora Formation (Turonian) in the Rudka and Březinka is characterized by an increase in the Ca content, a decrease in Si/Al (sediment finning, a higher proportion of the clay fraction) and an increase in Ti/Al (probably changing of an association of heavy minerals). According to Si/Al, it is possible to divide the transition from the lower "marlstone member" and the upper "cherty member" on the Vlkov and Březinka sections. Part of Si is bound in the detrital phase, but the biogenic Si from the spicules of the porifers also significantly contributed, especially in the highest parts of the Březinka section, where the Si and Si/Al values are associated with significant silicification. The studied part of the Bílá hora Formation reveal progradational trend in facies development. The cyclic character of the Si/Al, Ti/Al and Zr/Al curves is visible, and can be interpreted as parasqueneces. Magnetic susceptibility has higher values in the Korycany Member due to higher glauconite content. Low values of magnetic susceptibility in the Bílá hora Formation can reflect the high content of diamagnetic silica and calcite. Magnetic susceptibility is probably bound to the clay fraction and, thus the signal carrier are paramagnetic minerals. For each section, chemostratigraphic intervals were defined according to the curves of geochemical proxies and magnetic susceptibility curves. These intervals were correlated with previously published sections which showed the applicability of defined intervals for chemostratigraphic division of the successions of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin.
