Detection of epileptic microseizures

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje návrhu algoritmů detekce epileptických mikrozáchvatů v prostředí MATLAB pomocí dvou zcela odlišných klasifikačních kritérií. Konkrétně jsou předmětem zkoumání dlouhodobé jednokanálové EEG signály snímané invazivně pomocí mikroelektrod z oblasti hipokampu potkanů po zásahu tetanus toxinem iniciujícím vznik spontánních epileptických záchvatů. Při spektrální analýze je použita metoda rychlé Fourierovy transformace pro následnou konstrukci amplitudových frekvenčních spekter a získání námětu pro detekci. Samotné výpočetní algoritmy naprogramovaných funkcí detektorů využívají zejména kritérium minimální Hammingovy vzdálenosti částí spekter a Bayesovo kritérium maximální aposteriorní pravděpodobnosti zařazení segmentu signálu právě do třídy mikrozáchvatu.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis designs detection algorithms of epileptic microseizures in a MATLAB environment through the use of two completely different classification criteria. The research subjects are the long-term single-channel EEG signals which were recorded by the invasive method by microelectrodes from the area of the hippocampus of laboratory rats after thetetanus toxin injection which induced spontaneous epileptic seizures. The spectral analysis used the fast Fourier transform method to construct the amplitude-frequency spectrum and provided materials for detection. The computational algorithms of programmed functions of detectors used mainly the criterion of the minimum Hamming distance from parts of spectra and Bayes criterion of the maximal a posteriori probability of categorization of the signal segment as the microseizure.
