Comprehension of the text by foreigners in the first grade of elementary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá porozumění textu žáků cizinců na 1. stupni ZŠ. Cílem práce je porovnat porozumění textu u žáků cizinců na prvním stupni v Ústí nad Labem a v Praze. Teoretická část se zabývá migrací v České republice, stereotypy a předsudky žáků ZŠ k cizincům, sociokulturním handicapem, porovnávání vzdělávacích systémů v zemích a v závěru češtinou jako druhým jazykem a porozuměním textu. Praktická část představuje kvantitativní výzkum, v němž je pozornost zaměřena na porozumění textu u žáků cizinců na 1. stupni ZŠ v Ústí nad Labem a v Praze. Žáci po přečtení textu odpovídají na otázky vztahující se k textu. Výsledkem šetření je porovnat výsledky porozumění textu u žáků v Ústí nad Labem a v Praze.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on text comprehension among primary school students who are non-native speakers. The aim of the work is to compare text comprehension between non-native students in primary schools in Ústí nad Labem and Prague. The theoretical part deals with migration in the Czech Republic, stereotypes and prejudices of primary school students towards foreigners, socio-cultural handicaps, a comparison of educational systems in different countries, and finally, Czech as a second language and text comprehension. The practical part presents a quantitative research study that focuses on text comprehension among non-native students in primary schools in Ústí nad Labem and Prague. After reading a text, the students answer questions related to the text. The result of the research is a comparison of the text comprehension outcomes of students in Ústí nad Labem and Prague.
