The Rehabilitation of Post-Stroke Patients: Combination of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy in Patients Under the Age of 75

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje problematice horní končetiny u hemiparetických pacientů po prodělané CMP. Cílem této práce bylo zhodnocení efektu následné rehabilitace v kombinaci fyzioterapie a ergoterapie u pacientů po CMP do 75 let věku. Zaměřili jsme se na kombinaci fyzioterapie (jako možný proximální přístup), která využívá metodik založených na neurofyziologickém podkladě používajících běžně při rehabilitaci neurologických pacientů a ergoterapie ruky (jako přístup distální). Ke zhodnocení pacientů jsme použili protokol Chedoke-McMaster Hemiplegia Assessment. Hodnoty jednotlivých testů byly získány po přijetí a při propuštění nemocných z DRO FNUSA v Brně. Soubor byl hodnocen jako celek a jednotlivě soubory 1 a 2. Wilcoxonův párový test prokázal statisticky významné rozdíly a zlepšení funkčního stavu na hladině významnosti (p < 0,01, p < 0,02, p < 0,05) mezi vstupními a výstupními daty u celého souboru pacientů, ale i podstatné rozdíly v jednotlivých souborech.

Abstract:

This thesis is dedicated to the problem of upper extremity in rehabilitation hemipraretic stroke patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of rehabilitation in combination with physiotherapy and occupational therapy in stroke patients within 75 years of age. The thesis is focused on physiotherapy (as a possible proximal approach) using procedures based on the neurophysiological basis, which is commonly used method in the rehabilitation of neurological patients in combination with occupational therapy of the hand mobility (as distal approach). For the evaluation of the effect of this combination Chedock McMaster Hemiplegia Assessment was used. Tests were gathered after the reception and by discharge of patients from the DRO FNUSA in Brno (rehabilitation ward in the hospital). The sample was analyzed as both as a whole and as group 1 and 2. Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Test showed statistically significant difference and improvement of funktion in the level of significance between the input and output data for the whole group of patiens (p < 0.01, p < 0.02, p < 0.05), but also quite substantial differences in individual groups.
