The Role of Central Bank in the Financial Crisis

Abstract:

RAJNOHOVA, Monika: The Role of Central Bank in the Financial Crisis. [Bachelor thesis]. The Banking Institute University of Prague, international university in Banska Bystrica. Department of finance, accounting and insurance. Supervisor: Ing. Zuzana Brincikova, PhD. Year of thesis defense: 2013. Count of pages: 52. The subject of this bachelor thesis is to summarize and to look in more detail at the causes of the financial crisis and their impact on countries. Last but not least, the thesis covers interventions of central banks and governments in individual market economies affected by the financial crisis. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part focuses on theoretical informations about the central bank, its instruments and policies, which it applies in its activities, and about the nature and typology of the financial crisis. The last subchapter, which concludes the first part of the thesis is: The most important crises in the world. The next chapter analyzes the causes of specific financial crises and their consequencies on selected countries. In the third, final chapter the interventions of central banks in the United States, in the Eurozone and in Asian countries during the following crises – the global financial crisis in 2008 and the Asian crisis in 1997 – 1998 are discussed.

Katedra financií, účtovníctva a poisťovníctva. Vedúci práce: Ing. Zuzana Brinčíková, PhD. Rok obhajoby: 2013. Počet strán 52. Predmetom bakalárskej práce je zosumarizovanie a priblíženie príčin vzniku finančných kríz ako aj ich dopady na krajiny. V neposlednom rade práca obsahuje i opatrenia centrálnych bánk a vlád v jednotlivých trhových ekonomikách, ktoré finančná kríza zasiahla. Práca je rozdelená na tri časti. Prvá časť sa zameriava na teoretické poznatky o centrálnej banke, jej nástrojoch a politikách, ktoré využíva pri svojej činnosti, a o podstate, typológií finančných kríz. Poslednou kapitolou, ktorá uzatvára prvú časť práce je: Najvýznamnejšie krízy vo svete. Nasledujúca kapitola analyzuje príčiny vzniku konkrétnych finančných kríz a ich dôsledky na vybrané krajiny. V tretej, záverečnej kapitole sú rozobrané opatrenia centrálnych bánk v Spojených štátoch amerických, v eurozóne a v ázijských krajinách počas konkrétnych kríz, a to globálnej finančnej krízy od roku 2008 až po súčasnosť a ázijskej krízy v rokoch 1997 – 1998.
