Social, economic and urban transformation of selected towns in the Elbe valley area in the Ústí region

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je analýza vývoje sociálních, ekonomických a urbánních aspektů měst Litoměřice, Lovosice, Roudnice nad Labem a Štětí se zaměřením na transformační a post transformační období. Práce se ve svém úvodu zabývá teoretickými východisky transformace postsocialistických měst. V praktické části je analyzován socioekonomický a urbánní vývoj vybraných měst. Úvod socioekonomické analýzy je věnován základnímu představení měst a demografickému vývoji. Dále je analyzována organizační struktura, trh práce či bydlení. V urbánní části je charakterizován vývoj městských struktur od konce druhé světové války až po současnost souběžně s identifikováním klíčových změn v posledních letech v podobě rozšiřování měst a revitalizačních procesů v centrech měst. V závěrečné části jsou v rámci strategických plánů představeny vybrané aspekty urbanistické struktury a komparovány jsou prioritní oblasti vybraných měst.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse the development of social, economic and urban aspects of Litoměřice, Lovosice, Roudnice nad Labem and Štětí with a focus on the transformation and post transformation period. The paper deals with the theoretical solutions of the transformation of post-socialist cities in the beginning. The practical part analyses the socio-economic and urban development of selected cities. The introduction of socio-economic analysis is devoted to the basic presentation of cities and demographic development. The organizational structure, labour market and housing of the cities are analysed. In the urban part, the development of urban structures is characterized from the end of the Second World War to the present, alongside with the identification of key changes in recent years in the form of urban expansion and revitalization processes in their centres. In the final part there are presented selected aspects of the urban structure within the strategic plans and the priority areas of the selected cities are compared.
