Electrostimulation and its effect on training development and development of strength abilities

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je zpracování tématu elektrostimulace a jejího vlivu na trénovanost a rozvoj silových schopností. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na elektrostimulaci, energetické systémy těla a metabolismus. Dále se práce zabývá svaly a jejími mechanismy, zkoumá také strategie aktivní a pasivní regenerace a jejich vliv na únavu a stres a taktéž zkoumá vztah středního věku ke zdraví. V praktické části diplomové práce byl zkoumán vliv elektrické stimulace na trénovanost a rozvoj silových schopností u necvičících osob střední věkové skupiny ve věku 40 až 60 let. Během čtyřtýdenní intervence byly testovány dvě skupiny, z nichž jedna cvičila s elektrickou vestou a druhá bez ní. Celkem se do studie zapojilo 20 respondentů, kteří byli randomizovaně rozděleni do dvou skupin po 10. Standardizované testové baterie byly použity k posouzení zdatnosti horních a dolních končetin. Během studie byly identifikovány různé limity, jako například únava a problémy s klouby. Při analýze výsledků bylo zjištěno, že cvičení s elektrickou vestou vedlo k pozorovatelnému zlepšení ve srovnání s cvičením bez ní ve všech sledovaných parametrech. Nicméně, statisticky významný rozdíl byl zaznamenán pouze v jednom z těchto parametrů. Cohenův efekt naznačil praktickou významnost těchto rozdílů. Závěry studie naznačují, že delší trvání intervence by mohlo vést k větším změnám a je potřeba brát v úvahu individuální potřeby a omezení účastníků při navrhování podobných intervenčních programů.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to elaborate the topic of electrostimulation and its influence on training and development of strength abilities. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on electrical stimulation, energy systems of the body and metabolism. Furthermore, the thesis deals with muscles and its mechanisms. It also examines active and passive recovery strategies, their effect on fatigue, stress and also explores the relationship of middle age to health. In the practical part of the thesis, was investigated the effect of electrical stimulation on training and development of strength abilities in a non-exercising middle-aged group aged 40 to 60 years. During a four-week intervention, two groups were tested, one exercising with and the other without an electric vest. A total of 20 subjects participated in the study and were randomly divided into two groups of 10. Standardized test batteries were used to assess upper and lower extremity fitness. Various limitations such as fatigue and joint problems were identified during the study. When the results were analyzed, it was found that exercise with the electric vest resulted in observable improvement in performance compared to exercise without it in all the parameters studied. However, a statistically significant difference was observed in only one of these parameters. Cohen's effect indicated the practical significance of these differences. The study's conclusions suggest that longer duration of intervention could lead to more significant changes, and it is necessary to consider participants' individual needs and movement limitations when designing similar intervention programs.
