Work conditions and legislation for food delivery couriers

Abstract:

Služby rozvozu jídla jsou jedním z nejrychleji rostoucích odvětví nejen gastronomického cestovního ruchu, ale i stravování obecně. S tím, jak neustále roste poptávka, hledají společnosti stále další kurýry. Globálně se vyskytují případy, kdy rozvážkové firmy nenabízí kurýrům žádné zaměstnanecké benefity ani za ně neplatí zdravotní a sociální pojištění, což je důvodem, proč je cílem této práce zmapovat aktuální situaci na trhu s kurýry z hlediska pracovněprávních vztahů. Byl proveden výzkum, kurýři byli dotazováni během předávání objednávky. Výsledná data podporují hypotézu, že na trhu bude více kurýrů vykonávající činnost na živnostenské oprávnění než na pracovní poměr. Nakonec práce navrhuje možné řešení problému, na který mohou narazit kurýři, jejichž hlavními kritérii při hledání práce jsou finanční stabilita a zaměstnanecké benefity.

Abstract:

Food delivery services are one of the fastest growing branches in culinary tourism, and gastronomy in general. With continuously growing demand, food delivery services are always in search of new couriers. There have been instances globally of companies exploiting couriers, not providing full employment benefits such as set wage and social security, which is why the main goal of this thesis is to assess the current state on the courier market in terms of labor relations. A survey was conducted in person with couriers upon delivery. The results of the survey support the hypothesis that there will be more self-employed couriers than those employed at the delivery companies. Finally, the thesis suggests a viable solution to a problem that may arise for couriers who primarily look for financial security and employee benefits in a job.
