Nazi terror in the spring of 1945 with a focus on burned villages

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce představuje devět českých vesnic, které byly vypáleny na jaře 1945. Cílem výzkumu je souhrnné sledování motivů, které vedly k těmto bestiálním útokům na bezbranné obyvatelstvo. Hledá také odpověď na otázku, proč na konci války došlo ke nárůstu těchto zločinů. Tragické události devíti obcí mají svá specifika. Nacistický režim využil k tvrdé represi každý podnět, kterým se cítil ohrožen. Bylo prokázáno, že na násilí se nepodílely pouze jednotky SS, ale také ustupující wehrmacht. Dále si práce klade za cíl sledovat roviny spravedlnosti a budoucnosti, které se staly pro oběti důležitou satisfakcí.

Abstract:

The master thesis presents nine Czech villages that were burned down in the spring of 1945. The aim of the research is to comprehensively trace the motives that led to these bestial attacks on defenseless populations. It also seeks an answer to the question of why there was an increase in these crimes at the end of the war. The tragic events of nine villages have their own specifics. The Nazi regime used every impulse that it felt threatened to repress harshly. It was proved that not only the SS units took part in the violence, but also the retreating Wehrmacht. Furthermore, the thesis aims to follow the levels of justice and the future, which have become an important satisfaction for the victims.
