Geomorphometric analysis of the wider surroundings of the Rožná uranium mines

Abstract:

Ukládání radioaktivního odpadu je vzhledem k plánovanému rozšiřování jaderných elektráren v ČR velmi aktuální téma. Cílem práce je zhodnotit okolí bývalých uranových dolů Rožná z hlediska vývoje reliéfu v kontextu možného úložiště vyhořelého jaderného odpadu. Pro zjištění pravděpodobného vývoje reliéfu byla provedena geomorfometrická analýza širšího okolí dolů Rožná. Hlavní náplň této analýzy tvoří porovnání geomorfometrických indexů a příčných profilů údolí Nedvědička, která je dominantním tokem zkoumané oblasti. Hodnoty vypočtených indexů ukázaly, že část reliéfu povodí Nedvědičky byla ovlivněna endogenními procesy. Na základě analýz lze říct, že většina reliéfu území, včetně části, kde se nachází důl Rožná nevykazuje významné známky tektonické aktivity.

Abstract:

Radioactive waste management is a current topic due to the planned expansion of nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic. The aim of the work is to judge the surroundings of the former Rožná uranium mines in terms of relief development in the context of a possible spent nuclear fuel storage. To determine the probable development of the relief, a geomorphometric analysis of the wider surroundings of the Rožná mine was performed. The main content of this analysis is the comparison of geomorphometric indices and cross-sections of the Nedvědička valley, which is the dominant stream of the studied area. The values of the calculated indices showed that a part of the relief of the area had rejuvenated due to endogenous processes. Based on the analyses, it can be stated that most of the relief in the studied area including location of the Rožná mine isn’t currently affected by tectonic activity.
