Rail segments control unit for the model railroad

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci jsou nejprve popsány způsoby řízení modelové železnice a je uveden rozbor metod sloužících k detekci obsazení kolejových úseků. Dále je věnována pozornost vývoji hardwaru řídicí jednotky kolejových úseků, sloužící jednak jako zesilovač DCC signálu a také jako detektor obsazení jednotlivých kolejových úseků. Detekce je uskutečněna na principu měření úbytku napětí na rezistoru. Poté je uveden popis firmwaru mikrokontroléru a objasněna komunikace s nadřazeným systémem po sběrnici CAN. Také je ověřena správná funkce navrženého zařízení. Závěrem jsou zhodnoceny klady a zápory vytvořeného zařízení.

Abstract:

In this bachelor thesis the methods of model railway controlling are described and an analysis of the methods used for track occupancy detection is presented. In addition, attention is paid to the development of hardware of the rail segments control unit, serving both as a DCC signal amplifier and as a track occupancy detector. The detection is realized on principle of measuring the voltage drop across the resistor. Then, a microcontroller firmware description is stated and the communication with the parent system over CAN bus is explained. Also, the proper functionality of the proposed device is verified. Finally, the pros and cons of the created device are evaluated.
