Patological phenomenons in Japanese work environment - case study of the suicide of the Dentsu employee

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zaměřuje na analýzu příčin případu sebevraždy zaměstnankyně firmy Dentsu v souvislosti s problematikou pracovního prostředí v japonských firmách a na vliv případu na japonskou společnost. V úvodní části se práce věnuje analýze příčin případu, které jsou uvedené v japonských médiích. V druhé části práce popisuje vývoj Japonska po druhé světové válce a představuje japonský pracovní stereotyp. Ve třetí části práce rozebírá příčiny, které byly zjištěny předchozí analýzou, v historickém a sociologickém kontextu. Následně zmiňuje další jevy, které nesouvisí s případem, ale vyskytují se v japonském pracovním prostředí. V poslední části se práce soustředí na změny, které následně nastaly ve firmě Dentsu, a také řeší otázku možné reformy japonského zákoníku práce.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis of the causes of the suicide of Dentsu employee in connection with the work environment in Japanese companies and with the impact of the case on the Japanese society. The first part of the thesis deals with the analysis of the causes reported in the Japanese media. The second part describes the development of Japan after the Second World war and represents the Japanese working stereotype. The causes, which were identified by the previous analysis, are examined in the third part of the thesis in the historical and sociological context. After that the thesis mentions other phenomena that are unrelated to the case, but can be found in the Japanese working environment. In the last part, the work focuses on the changes that had occurred in Dentsu after the case and also look into the issue of possible reform of the Japanese Labour Code.
