Caspases are a family of evolutionary conserved proteases known mostly as mediators of apoptosis. Besides executing cell death they are involved in number of non-apoptotic functions, such as cell differentiation, proliferation, migration or regulation of immune responses. Kaspázy jsou rodinou evolučně konzervovaných proteáz, které jsou známé hlavně jako mediátory apoptózy. Kromě zprostředkování buněčné smrti se uplatňují také v procesech diferenciace, proliferace, migrace a imunitní odpovědi.
