Data depth

Abstract:

In this thesis we focus on data depth, which is one of the nonparametric tools for multivariate data analysis. The introductory theoretical overview offers a general definition of data depth with the postulates, that should satisfy, and several different depth notions. The work also deals with applications of depth on real data in statistical software R. We mention a bagplot and classification based on data depth. Centre of attention is mainly on the DDα-classifier, which quality we compare for our chosen data with other classifiers. Eventually, we deal with the issue of choosing among depth notions.

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci se věnujeme hloubce dat, což je jedním z neparametrický nástrojů pro analýzu mnohorozměrných dat. Úvodní teoretický přehled nabízí obecnou definici hloubky dat spolu s vlastnostmi, které by měla splňovat, a několik různých hloubkových funkcí. Práce se dále zabývá aplikacemi hloubky na reálných datech ve statistickém softwaru R. Uvádíme bagplot a klasifikaci pomocí hloubky dat. Zaměřujeme se hlavně na DDα-klasifikátor, jehož kvalitu pro námi zvolené data porovnávame i s jinými klasifikátory. V závěru se zabýváme otázkou výběru mezi hloubkovými funkcemi.
