Jan Malát – Life and Work

Abstract:
Tato práce pojednává o životě a díle českého hudebního skladatele a pedagoga Jana Maláta (1843 - 1915). Přibližuje skladatelův život a jeho cestu na pozici uznávaného pedagoga a upravovatele lidových písní. Jednotlivé kapitoly jsou zaměřeny na jeho klavírní a houslové školy, sbírky lidových písní, orchestrální skladby a opery.
Abstract:
This thesis is focussed on the life and work of Czech composer and music teacher Jan Malát (1843 - 1915).  Thesis describes his life and his way to the position of recognized music pedagogue and arranger of folk songs. Chapters of thesis are focussed on his piano and violin schools, folk song albums, orchestral pieces and operas.
