Abstract:

Tato práce detailně mapuje důsledky policejního násilí spáchaného na obyvatelích Afrického původu žijících v USA od doby vzniku sociálního hnutí Black Lives Matter. Práce popisuje způsob boje za rovnoprávnost a legislativní změny, které byly docíleny díky neustupujícímu a trvajícímu protestu ve jménu Black Lives Matter. Práce popisuje hlavní milníky tohoto hnutí a jeho vliv na americkou a celosvětovou politiku. Práce také obsahuje detailní popis fungování tohoto hnutí, jeho cíle, ideologii, strukturu a způsob jeho vlády.

Abstract:

This thesis maps the consequences of police murders of African Americans in the last decade. It details the protests against police brutality and the subsequent legislative changes which address issues such as the use of force, the duty of officers to intervene, report, or render medical aid, and more. The legislative changes to policing also involve a shift from a proactive approach to a community-oriented approach. The thesis further delves into the movement’s fight for equality and police accountability, with a focus on three specific cases of police brutality: Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, and George Floyd. It maps the evolution of police accountability and the progress that has been made since 2013. The thesis also maps the fight against systematic racism and police brutality. It describes the nature of the fight, the protests in the streets, the main achievements of the movement, and its influence on international political discourse. Finally, the thesis provides a detailed description of the nature of the movement, including its goals, aims, ideology, structure, and hierarchy.
