Physiological and biochemical changes in plants exposed to pharmaceuticals in the environment

Abstract:

Zvyšující se výroba a spotřeba léčiv se odráží na jejich zvyšující se koncentraci v prostředí, zejména pak ve vodních zdrojích. Z toho důvodu mohou léčiva ovlivňovat i necílové organismy. Jedná se o pseudoperzistentní polutanty (-které vnikají do prostředí kontinuálně a mohou a nemusí podléhat transformaci-). Čistírny odpadních vod nejsou zcela dokonale přizpůsobeny k jejich. Proto na výtoku z čistírny mohou rezidua léčiv a produktů jejich transformace interagovat s přirozeným ekosystémem vodního toku. Kromě mikroorganismů a živočichů jsou také rostliny do určité míry schopny znečištění odstranit, čehož se využívá v kořenových čistírnách odpadních vod. Avšak dopad těchto látek na fyziologické a biochemické procesy v rostlinách není zcela objasněn. Některé rostliny, jako třeba běžná modelová vodní rostlina okřehek menší (Lemna minor L.), jsou schopny tyto polutanty akumulovat. Předmětem zájmu této bakalářské práce je zejména příjem a transport těchto polutantů v rostlinách.

Abstract:

The permanently increasing production and use of pharmaceuticals corresponds with their growing concentration of them in the environment, especially in water sources. This is the reason why they can have impact on non target organisms. The issue is that they are pseudopersisteant pollutants (-entering the environment continuously, and may or may not be transformed-). Adaptation of waste water treatment plants to remove pharmaceuticals is not complete, therefore the waste water treatment plant efflux containing residua of drugs and products of their transformation can interact with ecosystems in water stream. Beside microorganims and animals, plants can also remove or decrease contamination, this ability is used in biological water plant treatment. Impact of these compounds on plant physiology and biochemistry is not fully recognized. Some plants, like common model water plant duckweed (Lemna minor L.), can accumulate pollutants, Object of concern of the proposed bachelor thesis is especially the uptake and transport of these pollutants in plants.
