Manifestations of Neutrality in Austrian Public Diplomacy

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na projevy neutrality v rakouské veřejné diplomacii. Cílem práce je zachytit, jak neutralita ovlivnila postavení Rakouska v mezinárodním společenství. Text se pro naplnění cílů dělí do tří hlavních kapitol. První část textu obsahuje teoretický základ pro vývoj práce a je zde charakterizován systém veřejné diplomacie. Dále práce zahrnuje konkrétní analýzu rakouské veřejné diplomacie, včetně strategie a aktérů, kteří se na ní podílí. V neposlední řadě je zde definována neutralita a jsou zde zkoumány vlivy neutrality na budování rakouské národní identity a na prezentaci státu v zahraničí.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on manifestations of neutrality in Austrian public diplomacy. The aim of this research is to capture how neutrality has affected Austria's position in the international community. The thesis is divided into three main chapters to meet the objectives. The first part of thesis contains the theoretical basis for the development of the research and characterizes the system of public diplomacy. Furthermore, the thesis includes a specific analysis of Austrian public diplomacy, including the strategy and the actors involved. Last but not least, the neutrality is defined and the effects of neutrality on the building of Austrian national identity and on the presentation of the state abroad are examined.
