Verification of selected economic relationship on data

Abstract:

Předložená práce se zabývá Fisherovým efektem, tedy vztahem nominální úrokové míry a inflace, a zkoumá ho na datech Austrálie, Nového Zélandu, USA a Kanady mezi lety 1956 až 2016. Cílem je pomocí ekonometrické analýzy zjistit, jestli mezi těmito veličinami existuje vztah, případně určit povahu tohoto vztahu. První kapitola se zabývá teoretickými podklady Fisherova efektu. Ve druhé kapitole přistupujeme k samotnému empirickému testování pomocí korelací, VAR modelu a Grangerovy kauzality. V závěru práce je provedena analýza citlivosti a výsledky jednotlivých testování jsou interpretovány a porovnány.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis investigates the Fisher effect, which means the relationship between nominal interest rate and inflation, using data of Australia, New Zealand, US and Canada between years 1956 and 2016. The purpose is to find out, whether the relationship between these variables exists and determine the nature of this relationship. In the first chapter the theoretical background of Fisher effect is introduced. In the second chapter we approach to empirical testing by means of correlation, VAR model and Granger causality. Afterwards the sensitivity analysis is performed. In conclusion, results of each testing are interpreted and compared.
