Aspects of shaping the further study path of high school graduates in an international comparison

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zkoumá aspekty formování další studijní dráhy absolventů středních škol v mezinárodní komparaci. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat roli školního poradenství a dalších poradenských pracovníků ve formování budoucího formálního vzdělávání žáků. Práce se zaměřuje na porovnání přístupů a praktik podpory žáků středních škol při výběru další studijní dráhy v mezinárodním kontextu, konkrétně v zemích, jako je Česká republice, Španělsko a Dánsko. Teoretická část práce představuje přehled poradenských služeb dostupných ve zkoumaných zemích. Dále popisuje vzdělávací systémy v daných zemích, s výjimkou České republiky. Empirická část práce má za cíl popsat metodologii, interpretaci výsledků a jejich následné shrnutí. Vrámci výzkumu byly provedeny hloubkové polostrukturované rozhovory s absolventy středních škol z České republiky, Španělska a Dánska. Hlavní závěry práce ukazují významné rozdíly v dostupnosti a kvalitě poradenských služeb mezi zkoumanými zeměmi. Zjištění naznačují, že tyto faktory mají klíčový vliv na rozhodovací proces studentů ohledně jejich dalšího vzdělávání. Tato práce přináší nové poznatky a hlubší porozumění různorodým přístupům v poskytování podpory žákům na středních školách při volbě jejich další studijní dráhy. Výsledky výzkumu mohou sloužit jako cenný zdroj informací pro středoškolské učitele, kteří se podílejí na procesu volby budoucího studia svých žáků.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis examines aspects of the formation of further study paths of secondary school graduates in an international comparison. The main aim of the thesis is to analyse the role of school counselling and other guidance personnel in shaping the future formal education of pupils. The thesis focuses on a comparison of approaches and practices in supporting secondary school pupils in their choice of further study path in an international context, specifically in countries such as the Czech Republic, Spain and Denmark. The theoretical part of the thesis presents an overview of the counselling services available in the countries studied. It also describes the educational systems in the countries, with the exception of the Czech Republic. The empirical part of the thesis aims to describe the methodology, the interpretation of the results and their subsequent summary. In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with secondary school graduates from the Czech Republic, Spain and Denmark. The main findings of the paper show significant differences in the availability and quality of counselling services between the countries studied. The findings suggest that these factors have a key influence on students' decision-making process regarding their further education. This bachelor thesis provides new insights and a deeper understanding of the diverse approaches in the provision of support to secondary school pupils in choosing their future educational pathways. The research findings can serve as a valuable resource for secondary school teachers who are involved in the process of choosing their students' future studies.
