The Moravian-Silesian Region on Comenius' map of Moravia

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá popisem historických map Moravy a Moravskoslezského kraje, ale hlavně si stanovuje za cíl zobrazit hranice Moravskoslezského kraje na Komenského mapě Moravy a následně analyzovat obsah na vymezeném území. Výsledkem by měla být Komenského mapa s vyznačenými hranicemi Moravskoslezského kraje, jednotlivé analýzy obsahu na vyznačeném území, ale také jakési spojení oborů geografie a historie. Abych mohl cíl splnit, bylo nutné si samostatně charakterizovat Komenského mapu Moravy i dřívější Fabriciovu mapu Moravy. Nutné bylo si také popsat samotný Moravskoslezský kraj a stanovit si relativní polohu hranice kraje. Když jsem měl provedené charakteristiky a znal relativní polohu hranice kraje, mohl jsem přistoupit k s samotnému vyznačení hranice na Komenského mapě Moravy. K řešení byla použita aplikace QGIS 3.34 Prizren, do níž jsem vložit scan Komenského mapy Moravy a pomocí dříve stanovené relativní hranice jsem vyznačil hranici Moravskoslezského kraje do Komenského mapy Moravy. Po vytvoření hranice Moravskoslezského kraje na Komenského mapě Moravy v QGIS 3.34 Prizren jsem přistoupil k analyzování prostředků, metod a samozřejmě i obsahu mapy. Hlavním výsledkem je Komenského mapa s vyznačeným Moravskoslezským krajem. Dále pak také všechny výsledky analýz a hypotézy, které prezentuji v přehledných obrázcích, grafech, tabulkách a textu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the description of historical maps of Moravia and the Moravian-Silesian Region, but mainly aims to show the borders of the MoravianSilesian Region on the Comenius' map of Moravia and then to analyse the content of the defined territory. The result should be a Comenius' map with the boundaries of the Moravian-Silesian Region marked, individual analyses of the content of the marked territory, but also a kind of combination of the fields of geography and history. In order to fulfil the goal, it was necessary to characterise separately Comenius' map of Moravia and the earlier Fabricius map of Moravia. It was also necessary to describe the Moravian-Silesian Region itself and to establish the relative position of the region's boundary. Once I had made the characterizations and knew the relative position of the county boundary, I could proceed with the actual marking of the boundary on Comenius' map of Moravia. To solve this, I used the QGIS 3.34 Prizren application, inserted a scan of the Comenius' map of Moravia, and used the previously determined relative boundary to mark the boundary of the Moravian-Silesian Region on the Comenius' map of Moravia. After creating the boundary of the Moravian-Silesian Region on the Comenius' map of Moravia in QGIS 3.34 Prizren, I proceeded to analyze the means, methods and, of course, the content of the map. The main result is the Comenius' map with the Moravian-Silesian Region marked. Furthermore, all the results of the analyses and hypotheses are presented in clear figures, graphs, tables and text.
