Reflection of the impact of sanctions on the economy and decision-making of the RF and the EU's efforts to revise them

Abstract:

The EU economic sanctions, prompted by the ongoing large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, represent a revolution in the imposition of sanctions. The current sanctions regime is one of the most comprehensive in history, it also represents a redefinition of the EU's appro-ach to them, and it makes Russia the most sanctioned country in the world. Their complex design and wide-ranging but inconclusive consequences have attracted expert attention. The topic has been treated widely in the literature, but the variations in defining sanctions and effectiveness are also wide-ranging. The diploma thesis analyses the findings of 50 papers dealing with EU sanctions against the Russian Federation, published between February 2022 and December 2023. The purpose of the analysis is to systematize the findings, arguments and approaches from which current topics, the level of interdiscip-linarity and important under-covered aspects (literature response to practice) can be extracted. A second, subordinate aim is to trace the research footprint in the implementation of EU sanction packages (practice response to the literatu-re).

Abstract:

Ekonomické sankcie EÚ, ktorých podnetom je prebiehajúca rozsiahla vojenská agresia Ruskej federácie proti Ukrajine, predstavujú re-volúciu v uvaľovaní sankcií. Súčasný sankčný režim patrí medzi naj-komplexnejšie v histórií, predstavuje tiež redefiníciu prístupu EÚ k nim, a robí z Ruska najviac sankciovanú krajinu na svete. Ich komplexné prevedenie a rozsiahle, no nepresvedčivé dôsledky vzbudili odbornú pozornosť. Téma je v odbornej literatúre spracovaná široko, avšak široké sú aj variácie definovania sankcií a efektivity. Diplomová práca analyzuje zistenia 50 jednotiek prác zaoberajúcich sa sankciami EÚ voči Ruskej federácii, vydaných v období február 2022 – december 2023. Účelom analýzy je systematizácia zistení, argumentov a prístu-pov, z ktorých možno extrahovať horúce témy, úroveň interdisci-plinarity a dôležité nedostatočne pokryté aspekty (reakcia literatúry na prax). Druhým, im pod-riadeným cieľom je sledovanie stopy výskumu v prevedení sankčných balíčkov EÚ (reakcia praxe na literatúru).
