Internet of Things and its usage and implementation in passenger vehicles

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je seznámit čtenáře s využitím internetu věcí v palubních systémech propojených osobních automobilů. Dílčím cílem je představení konkrétních vybraných palubních systémů využívajících internet věcí a jejich vzájemné porovnání. V teoretické části je nejprve vymezen termín internet věcí spolu s termínem propojený osobní automobil a samotný princip komunikace propojeného osobního automobilu. Součástí teoretické části je také historický vývoj propojených osobních automobilů a stav těchto automobilů v současnosti. Dále jsou v teoretické části představeny různé druhy rizik, která implementace internetu věcí do palubních systémů propojených osobních automobilů přináší. Na konci teoretické části jsou představeny budoucí trendy, které by se mohly pravděpodobně dočkat realizace v této oblasti. Praktická část bakalářské práce se věnuje využití internetu věcí v konkrétních vybraných propojených osobních automobilech tří různých výrobců. Autor práce si osobně vyzkouší funkčnost palubních systémů v těchto osobních automobilech využívajících internet věcí a získá tak podklady pro následné porovnání. Na základě metody vícekriteriálního hodnocení variant dojde k výslednému vyhodnocení podle zvolených kritérií. Hlavním přínosem této bakalářské práce je ukázat aktuální stav využití internetu věcí v propojených osobních automobilech a přinést tak komplexní porovnání palubních systémů tří různých výrobců, kteří využívají internet věcí v osobních automobilech.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to make the reader familiar with the use of Internet of Things (IoT) in the on-board systems of connected cars. The sub-goal is to present and compare actual on-board systems which use the system of IoT. The theoretical part of this thesis at first defines the terms IoT and connected car and explains the way of communicating of the connected car. Then it presents the historical development and the current advancements of connected cars. The theoretical part of this thesis also presents different types of risks, which are brought by the implementation of IoT’s into the on-board systems of connected cars. The theoretical part is concluded with the possible future trends in this area. The practical part of this bachelor thesis is presenting the applications of IoT in three connected cars of specific brands. The author of the thesis will personally test the functionality of these systems to gain records for further comparisons and evaluation. The final evaluation regarding selected criteria is based on the method of multi-criteria decision analysis. The main contribution of this thesis is the demonstration of the actual usage of IoT in the on-board systems of connected cars and the complex comparison of the on-board systems of three selected car manufacturers, which use IoT in their passenger vehicles.
