Interview with undead. Life and work in the subjunctive in Kathrin Rögglas "wir schlafen nicht".

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the novel “wir schlafen nicht” from the Austrian writer Kathrin Röggla. First it describes the author and the specifics of her writing, for example the method of the narrative or the used subjunctive. Then it analyses every character individually and the impacts of their work on their life. In the end, it comes back to some terrifying elements, which we can see in the novel, and tries to explain them.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o románu „wir schlafen nicht“ od rakouské spisovatelky Kathrin Röggla. V první části se zabývá autorkou a specifiky její tvorby, jako je třeba způsob vypravování nebo užitý konjunktiv. Poté nahlíží na každou postavu z románu jednotlivě a rozebírá, jaké dopady má práce na jejich život. V závěru se vrací k děsivým prvkům, které v románu můžeme sledovat a pokouší se o jejich vysvětlení.
