Indigenous in Southern Chile. Terrorists or a Resistance Movement?

Anotace:

Skupina původních obyvatel v Chile se dopouští na jihu země z mnoho rozličných důvodů. Stát reaguje represemi a zavedením protiteroristického zákona. Od počátku „Mapuče konfliktu“ uplynulo více než dvacet let a stále zůstává nevyřešen. Napětí se stupňuje a eskaluje násilí.

Abstract:

An indigenous group in Chile has been committing violence in the south of the country for different reasons, and the State, meanwhile, reacts with repression and resort to the Antiterrorist law. More than twenty years have passed since the beginning of the “Mapuche conflict”, and tensions remain unresolved, even intensifying, with an escalation of violence. This thesis research seeks to establish whether to apply the category of terrorist to indigenous Mapuche activists, as considered through the lens of a series of theoretical considerations and methodologies addressed throughout the investigation. In the same way, it seeks to identify the conditions that have facilitated the categorization.
