Chosen aspects by translation and lokalisation of the website on the example of company PARAPETY RS

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the chosen aspects of translation and localization of a website on the example of the company PARAPETY RS. The corpus of this thesis is being formed by a selection out of the text material of this website. It aims to translate and analyze the given text, while showing and describing relevant problematic cases and offering their solutions. This is possible by referencing the theoretical knowledge acquired in the areas of websites, their creation, specialist language, and its translation, text analysis, skopos theory and with the help of dictionaries and consultations with specialists. Those also form the theoretical part of this thesis. The practical part is formed by a selection of texts out of the corpus, presented in the form of screenshots, while there is a commented translation following. The interesting characteristics of the texts are the main subject of this commentary. Here are the choices made during the translation being explained, while usually experiencing problematic parts in vocabulary. A part of this thesis is also a glossary, made from the most relevant words. The thesis should also draw attention to the at the moment not too linguistically favored topic of civil engineering and hopefully also awaken the readers interest for the topic.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vybranými aspekty překladu a lokalizace webové stránky na příkladu firmy PARAPETY RS. Výběr textového materiálu této stránky také tvoří korpus práce. Cílem práce je prostřednictvím jeho překladu a analýzy poukázat na problematická místa a tato popsat, stejně jako nabídnout jejich řešení. Toto je umožněno díky předtím získaným teoretickým znalostem z oblastí webových stránek, jejich tvorby, odborného jazyka a jeho překladu, analýzy odborného textu, teorie skoposu a rovněž díky slovníkům a konzultacím s odborníky. Tyto tvoří také teoretickou část práce. V praktické části se vyskytují vybrané texty z korpusu v podobě screenshotů, pod kterými se nachází jejich komentovaný překlad. Zde jsou vysvětlena rozhodnutí učiněná při překladu. Práce se zabývá především jeho zajímavostmi, přičemž se většinou jedná o problematická místa z oblasti lexiky. Součástí práce je také glosář nejrelevantnějších pojmů. Účelem práce je rovněž upozornit na v současnosti lingvisticky vcelku opomíjený obor stavebnictví a snad i o něj v čtenářkách a čtenářích probudit zájem.
