Mind, Language, Image – Possibilities and Limits of Artificial Intelligence in 2023

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na teoretické základy a současné aplikace umělé inteligence ve třech klíčových oblastech s názvy: mysl, jazyk a obraz. Teze autorů Alana Turinga, Johna Searla nebo Marvina Minského, kteří stáli u zrodu oboru umělé inteligence, ale i Lva Manoviche a Emanuela Arielliho, kteří jsou zase významnými osobnostmi zabývajícími se uměním AI, porovnáme se stavem, ve kterém se umělá inteligence nachází dnes. Výsledkem práce by tak měla být odpověď na otázku, zda umělá inteligence stále leží v původních hranicích, které jí byly vytyčeny, nebo již tyto hranice překročila, a tím i odhalení stavu, v němž se nachází v roce 2023. Práce představuje příspěvek k aktuálnímu stavu poznání v oblasti a poskytuje podklady pro budoucí výzkum a inovace směřující k etickému a zodpovědnému využívání umělé inteligence ve prospěch celé společnosti. Formát práce je přehledová studie a jako metodologie je zvolena analýza nových zdrojů z oblasti umělé inteligence a nových médií. Jako referenční materiál pak teze zmíněných vědců.

Abstract:

The work focuses on the theoretical foundations and current applications of artificial intelligence in three key areas, titled: mind, language, and image. We compare the theses of authors such as Alan Turing, John Searle, and Marvin Minsky, who were at the forefront of the field of artificial intelligence, as well as Lev Manovich and Emanuele Arielli, who are prominent figures in the AI art field, to the state of artificial intelligence today. The outcome of the work should be an answer to the question of whether artificial intelligence still lies within the original boundaries set for it, or if it has already surpassed these boundaries, thus revealing the state it is in the year 2023. The work represents a contribution to the current state of knowledge in the field and provides a basis for future research and innovations aimed at the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence for the benefit of the whole society. The format of the work is a review study, and the chosen methodology is the analysis of new sources from the field of artificial intelligence and new media. The theses of the aforementioned scientists serve as reference material.
