Evaluation of financial and non-financial return on investment in a new cash register system at selected retail chain branches

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá návratností realizované investice ROI, měřením doby obsluhy zákazníka a komparací spokojenosti se starým a novým odbavovacím systémem u pokladen. Nové pokladny se zavádějí především z důvodu urychlení procesu, nicméně časový rozdíl obsluhy na starých a nových pokladnách nebyl dosud porovnán. Cílem práce bylo zhodnotit návratnost investice do nového pokladního systému a doporučit společnosti kroky, jak dosáhnout zlepšení procesu odbavování zákazníků u pokladen v Klášterci nad Ohří. Cíle bylo dosaženo pomocí metod finančních, statistických a rozhovorů s manažery prodejen. Ačkoliv statistické hypotézy nebyly potvrzeny, jeví se investice dle výpočtů ROI jako příznivá z hlediska rychlejšího odbavení zákazníků a průměrné časové úspory. Na základě provedeného šetření bylo obchodní jednotce v Klášterci nad Ohří stanoveno doporučení.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the return on the realized ROI, measuring the customer service time and comparing satisfaction with the old and new check-in system at the cash registers. New cash registers are being introduced mainly to speed up the process, however, the time difference between the staff at the old and new cash registers has not yet been compared. The aim of the work was to evaluate the return on investment in a new cash register system and recommend to the company steps to improve the process of customer handling at cash registers in Klášterec nad Ohří. The goal was achieved through the methods of financial, statistical and interviews with store managers. Although the statistical hypotheses have not been confirmed, according to ROI calculations, the investment appears to be favorable in terms of faster customer handling and average time savings. Based on the conducted investigation, a recommendation was set for the business unit in Klášterec nad Ohří.
